The story behind the name
An otherworldly name of Latin roots, there’s something charming about a girl called Luna. In Roman mythology, she was the goddess of the moon, often shown driving a white chariot across the sky—clearly a brave and independent spirit. The Romans revered Luna since the moon helped them calculate time. Celebrities are also over the moon for the name, with Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem and John Legend and Chrissy Teigen choosing it for their little ones. Harry Potter fans will also remember the loony but lovable Hogwarts student Luna Lovegood.
