The story behind the name
Nature-inspired and prone to puns, Skye is a gender-neutral name of Scottish origin that exudes a light, breezy nature. Yet far from living up in the clouds à la the Old Norse ský, Skye is grounded in the Scottish island of the same name. Doing little to dampen Skye's inspirational appeal, this inner-most isle is a muse of its own, dramatic in vision and Scandinavian prose. Appearing as Skuy or Skuyö, Skye features in many a Norse saga as the mythological "island of clouds." However, Skye's Celtic roots are just as compelling, aligning the title to skitis, meaning "winged."
