The story behind the name
Perseus as a boy's name is of Greek origin. Fans of mythology might recognize Perseus as the son of Zeus and Danae. He defeated the Medusa and rescued Andromeda from a sea monster, later marrying her. This little “destroyer” can quickly learn to fight for what’s right, even if it means wrecking a few playground toys along the way. The ancient name has had a relatively low uptake on the baby name charts until the last decade, when a resurgence in antiquated names began to take over. If you love the story behind Perseus but want something a little more commonly-known, why not shorten it to Percy?
